Bee Vomit Is Golden Honey
I learnt about how honey is made and I am astounded at how hard those poor little honey bees work without pay. Apparently they collect the nectar from the flowers and take it back to the hive where they make the honeycomb. Inside their little tummies the nectar is separated into glucose and fructose which is then regurgitated or sucked out by another bee to be placed into the honeycomb cavities. The bees do this until it is full, in the meantime the hive gets quite warm and the bees flap their little wings constantly to keep it cooler. The water in the air and the honey mix mixed together actually makes the finished honey. When the cavities are full, the bees seal them with a layer of wax which is also produced by the bee (beeswax). The bee keeper then comes along, takes the frames that contain the honeycomb and honey out of the hive. They scrape the wax off and then place the frames inside a special machine which spins really fast to release the honey out of the little honeycomb cavities. A tap at the bottom of the machine lets all the golden honey out and into bottles for us to enjoy. the beeswax is also used to make other products. I also now realize how they get the different flavoured honey......it all depends on the type of flowers they get the nectar from. Wow, I have to say I will respect a bee more now that I know how hard the poor little bugger works, no wonder they sting us if we get too close.
