Washing Machines

Thank God for washing machines. Today we had to do loads of washing because we had been away for a week, camping. I am grateful for modern washing machines, which means we don't have to wash our clothes by hand like they did in the old days, I just wouldn't do the washing, blah!

    I often think that when I do a quick load. Imagine having to stoke the fire and boil the copper, then stir it around, then take it out and rub the crap out of it on a wash board then put it through a mangle then hang it out still dripping wet on a long line that will probably fall over in the dirt (that's how my mum used to do it when she was first married) .... how did women survive those hard days?

    I am definitely grateful for my wonderful appliances. Icecream makers, especially!

      How lucky we are these days, and how many things we take for granted! I checked out your icecream post, it looks delicious. Funny because in one of the magazines I bought, Good Taste, there's an article about how to make your own and I was going to attempt it. Haven't tried yet though, by the sounds of your blog it would be well worth it.
